Serious injuries are slow to heal. Sometimes pain will never go away completely. Sometimes the full effects of an injury do not make themselves known until months or even years after an injury. Do not underestimate the time it takes to recover. Once you settle with ICBC, you waive any future entitlement to damages arising out of your claim. If it later turns out that your injuries were more serious than originally thought, you will thus not be able to claim the additional compensation that you would otherwise be entitled to. Accepting an early settlement offer from ICBC, before the full extent of your injuries is known, can thus be a risky proposition.
